Earlier this year, The American Chamber of Commerce in Australia in conjunction with WA DEFENCE REVIEW, hosted an event titled “Closing the Gap: Future of Defence and Indigenous Employment”.
The event consisted of influential keynote speakers including Lieutenant General Peter Leahy, former Chief of Army; Adam Goodes, CEO and Director, Indigenous Defence Consortium; Mark Brewer, Brigadier and Commandant, Royal Military College, Duntroon; Warrant Officer Class One, Kenneth Nelliman, Regimental Sergeant Major, Army Recruit Training Centre, Kapooka, and discussed how the defence industry in Australia, which employs tens of thousands of people, has the capacity to play a key supporting role to Defence in closing the gap.
Indiya Geospatial received a complimentary sponsorship package courtesy of WA DEFENCE REVIEW which enabled us to showcase our business to delegates of the event. In the below interview, conducted by WA DEFENCE REVIEW as part of our sponsorship, our Managing Director, Lawrence Hillary, talks about some of the major milestones Indiya Geospatial has reached including obtaining Supply Nation certification in May this year, some significant contracts we have been awarded and our recently established relationship with the Indigenous Defence Consortium. Lawrence also discusses how Indiya Geospatial is contributing to closing the gap by providing Indigenous people with career opportunities, with our goal to eventually see more Indigenous people working in the surveying industry.
